High-performance sports right around the corner

High-performance sports are very important here in Emsland. For instance, we have a professional soccer team. Every second week, SV Meppen provides its fans with a spectacle in the Hänsch Arena. The men’s team plays in the third national league. The women’s team plays in the second national league. And the HSG Nordhorn-Lingen handball team plays its second Handball national league games in the EmslandArena.

Emsland: a runner’s paradise

The route along the Dortmund-Ems Canal is ideal for runners. Alone or in a team, there is plenty of room for each runner to set his own pace. You can start from our company grounds or from your home. Once a year, you have the chance to display your fitness level in the Lingen (Ems) City Run. Not enough? There are other opportunities in the region, such as the Remmers-Hasetal Marathon. Or you can train throughout the year and then participate in the Berlin Marathon with some of your colleagues. What do you think?

​North Sea feeling at the "Speicherbecken"

The Geeste "Speicherbecken" feels almost like the North Sea. The lake, which spans 230 hectares, offers sunbathing, swimming, and wind surfing. People also sail, go out in pedal boats, and dive here. Inline skaters can skate right along the lake, and there are beach volleyball courts. In the beach restaurant, you can relax and enjoy the view of the wetlands to the north.
