In a nutshell:
The Ignition Racing Team electric visited Lingen on November 2, 2022
15 team members got to know our ROSEN site
Our trainees made various parts for the wheel suspension of the current racing vehicle
"On your marks, get set, go!" was the motto at the ROSEN Group in Lingen (Ems) at the beginning of November, when the Ignition Racing Team electric was a guest with its current racing vehicle and 15 team members. The team has been sponsored by ROSEN since 2021 and used the end of the season as an opportunity to present its current vehicle to the various cooperation partners and get to know them better.
Apprentices Manufactured Components
The racing vehicle of the student association was manufactured in this year's season in cooperation with our apprentices, among others. They manufactured some parts for the wheel suspension of the racing car in the ROSEN Mechanics Manufacturing department. During the visit, our apprentices now got the opportunity to see where their self-produced parts were installed in the vehicle and how the individual parts in their interaction enable the driving of a racing car.
Small Parts, Big Function
"After we received a request at the beginning of the year to see if we could manufacture some of the elements for the Ignition Racing Team electric vehicle, a project team was formed consisting of some of our apprentices and us instructors, Michael and myself, to provide technical support," said instructor Stephan about the process of working with the Ignition Racing Team. "At the beginning, we received technical drawings from the students, which we revised and made suitable for manufacturing in exchange with the Ignition Racing Team. In the next step, our trainees practiced manufacturing the three components on residual blanks before we began manufacturing with the material provided by the team. Looking back, I can say that the project gave our trainees a good opportunity to get creative and test out how different parts can be manufactured and, above all, how best to approach such a task. The apprentices involved had great fun throughout the project and were very pleased to see the great function of the small parts they made."
A Look at the Electronics
In addition to the support provided by our apprentices, our electronics development team is also continuously on hand to offer advice and support. Some of our electronics developers are in regular contact with the team to constantly evaluate the electronics integrated in the vehicle and discuss suggestions for improvement. In this context, our electronics developers had the opportunity to visit the Ignition Racing Team's new workshop in October.
In the Mood for Pizza?
If you would like to learn more about the Ignition Racing Team electric, you will have the opportunity to meet them and their current vehicle at the ROSEN Pizza Event - Data Science Edition on December 1, 2022. The event will take place at the ROSEN Osnabrück location starting at 4:30 pm. One of the three program items of the evening will also deal with the question: "How do I train a race car to drive?". Registration for the pizza event is possible via this registration form.
About the Ignition Racing Team
The Ignition Racing Team electric is a student association that was founded in 2006 and since then has participated annually in Formula Student events. Formula Student is an international design competition in which colleges and universities compete in the construction of formula racing cars. The special characteristic of the competition is that it is not the fastest car that wins, but the best overall concept consisting of dynamic and static disciplines, including cost analysis, marketing and engineering design. The association has been building electric cars since 2011 and has already achieved numerous successes.
