Third Class Family at ROBIGS
6/6/2023 |News

Red, Yellow and Soon Blue

In a nutshell:

  • Our bilingual grade school ROBIGS grows with a third class family
  • 22 children will start school this summer
  • From summer capacity for a total of 60 children at ROBIGS
  • New teachers are currently being trained

Our bilingual grade school is growing! Starting this summer, we will welcome 22 new first graders at ROBIGS – opening an additional third class family. The interest in school places has already been very high for several years. Therefore, we have now decided to increase the capacity from 40 to 60 places. A great development of which we are very proud!

Learning With and From Each Other

The great interest confirms our special pedagogical concept. In addition to the bilingual orientation and lessons in team teaching (which means that a German-speaking and an English-speaking teacher organize the lessons together), we rely on classes that span different grades. In so-called class families, first, second, third and fourth graders are taught together – with each child setting his or her own individual learning pace and being challenged and encouraged accordingly. Our goal is to enable each student to learn at his or her own pace according to individual performance, strengths and weaknesses. One advantage of mixed-grade groups: The children learn with and from each other, as they see their elders as developmental role models.

Welcome, Class Family Blue!

So far, we have had a yellow and a red class family at ROBIGS – these will now be joined by a blue class family in the next school year. As a result, there will be both organizational and spatial changes: In order to continue to have each age group represented in all class families, all classes will be reshuffled starting this summer. Parents and children have already been informed about the new composition of the groups, and we have included individual needs of the children in the new division of the class families. The red and yellow classes will remain in their current rooms. The new blue class will be housed at ROBIGS in the previous Lab. The Lab, a room that the children can use for various project work, and a room for lunch will be set up in the ROYOUTH Center in a timely manner.

In order to maintain our above-average supervision ratio with at least two teachers per class, the team of teachers will also receive support from additional specialists who are currently already being trained. We warmly welcome the new colleagues and look forward to implementing more exciting projects together with the children at ROBIGS in the coming school year.
