Emsland cultural landscape

Even though it might not appear so at first glance, Emsland does have a wide range of cultural offerings. From theater to art house cinema and a wide variety of museums, and the Esterwegen concentration camp memorial, there is much to discover. Did you know, for instance, that the “Peat Bog Soldiers” (German: “Moorsoldatenlied”) was written here before it became a global song of resistance? Besides historical culture, Emsland’s towns have a great deal to offer: the Abifestival, the “House am See” festival, and the Lingen Altstadtfest are only a few examples.

Lots of attractions right around the corner – the EmslandArena

Want ride your bicycle to a concert and then have a drink in town afterwards? You can do that in Lingen (Ems). Since 2013, the EmslandArena, which is well-known even outside the region, has offered a varied entertainment program here. The second national handball league; comedy with Luke Mockridge or Martin Rütter; music by Mark Forster, Katie Melua, Tom Jones, or Bob Dylan; or musicals about Michael Jackson – all year long there are lots of events here, right around the corner.
