Discovery Tour Through the ROSEN World

In a nutshell:

  • Girls' and Boys' Day at the Lingen (Ems) site

  • 60 young talents got an insight into the ROSEN Group

  • Activities on a wide range of occupational fields

On April 27, 2023, pupils got to know the ROSEN Group as part of the Girls' and Boys' Day. Almost 60 young talents were able to gain an insight into various occupational fields at the Lingen (Ems) site.

Insight Into Various Apprenticeship Professions

The starting signal was given at 8 am after the children and young people from various schools in the region had arrived at the Innovation Center. They listened intently to a company presentation in our Rotrium. Furthermore, they got a short introduction to our various training opportunities. Then the fun truly started: Divided into three groups, the participants begun their discovery tour with a total of six mentors. In the course of the morning, the young talents gained insights into various occupational fields and the activities of our company. Two of our apprentices gave them an understanding of the metal processing professions as well as the job of "Electronics Technician for Devices and Systems". They explained the process and content of their training and provided the children with an insight into their day-to-day work.

Pipeline Inspection by Mouse Click

Of course, there were also insights into other training professions. For example, colleagues from the IT and Software Development departments had prepared workplaces. The boys and girls were allowed to set these up under supervision. At the same time, they had the opportunity to test our in-house developed game "Pipe Inspector". The aim is to inspect as many kilometers of a pipeline as possible. The player has to find faults and avoid obstacles.

Measuring Forces

Another part of the program was the demonstration of a pig run – More precisely of a cleaning pig that was pumped through a Plexiglas pipe in a clearly visible manner. In addition, the girls and boys were able to examine various types of flaws in pipe sections. Afterwards, they were allowed to discover the power of a strong magnet (which is usually used on our pigs) by pulling it over a steel plate on a rope. It looks simple at first, but requires quite a bit of strength and quickly aroused the students' ambition.

Creative Soldering Exercises

Of course, a visit to our ROCARE units was also included. Thus, the colleagues of our bilingual daycare center ROKIDS and our bilingual grade school ROBIGS presented their professions as educators and teachers and answered the questions of the participants. At ROYOUTH, our youth initiative, students were able to let their creativity run free. They had the opportunity to use solder to design a plate with their own name, the name of their best friend or pet, or even the logo of a favorite club or band. The entire ROYOUTH team supported the young talents and gave them a crash course in soldering.

After a joint closing, the official program was over at 1 pm and the girls and boys were picked up. The parents or caregivers now had the opportunity to have lunch with the children and show them their workplaces. An eventful day, which hopefully gave the participants a lot of impressions about different professions.
